The **IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity)** is a unique 15-digit code assigned to every mobile phone. Carriers use it to check:
- whether your phone is compatible with their network,
- whether the device is locked or blacklisted (for example, if it was reported lost or stolen),
- and to validate it before activating service.
### How to find your IMEI:
1. **Dial code method**: Open your phone dialer and enter `*#06#`. The IMEI will pop up automatically.
2. **Settings menu** (Android): Go to **Settings → About Phone → Status → IMEI information**.
3. **On the phone itself**: Sometimes printed on the SIM tray or under the battery (if removable).
