What you’re seeing:
- **Name:** *Recovery Image (D:)*
- **Size:** ~15 GB total
- **Free:** ~1.8 GB
- It’s almost full **by design**.
What it is:
- This partition holds the **factory recovery image** and repair tools for Windows.
- It’s used to **reset or repair** the system if Windows fails.
- OEM systems (HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc.) commonly include this.
What’s happening:
- Nothing is wrong.
- It’s not meant for files, downloads, or programs.
- Windows shows it, but you’re generally **not supposed to touch it**.
What you should *not* do:
- Do **not** delete files from it.
- Do **not** try to free space on it.
- Do **not** install anything there.
What you *can* do (optional, advanced):
- Hide the drive letter so it doesn’t appear in File Explorer.
- Only remove it **after** creating external recovery media and **only** if you know exactly what you’re doing.
Bottom line:
- **C:** is your real working drive (and it’s very healthy: 877 GB free).
- **D:** is a protected recovery partition. Low free space there is normal.
